Ingredients:
- One 19-ounce can (540 grams) chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
- 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons tahini
- 1 small clove of garlic or half a large one
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 2 to 3 tablespoons water
- Dashes of paprika for garnish
- Jalapeños?
- DJ&A mushrooms?
- Cilantro
Instructions:
- In a food processor, combine tahini and lemon juice. Blend for at least 1 minute until whipped.
- Add garlic, spices, and olive oil. Blend until smooth, scraping the sides with a spatula if needed.
- In a bowl, dump chickpeas and add water to rinse. Lightly rub the chickpeas between your hands to remove the skins. Add more water to help separate and wash away the skins.
- Strain the chickpeas and add them to the blender. Blend for 1 minute, scrape the sides and bottom of the food processor, then blend again.
- Add water gradually and blend until the desired consistency is reached.
- Garnish with dashes of paprika. Enjoy your delicious homemade hummus!
Tips & Notes
- Use fresh chickpeas, soak overnight in baking soda
